Cherry Knobloch was born and raised in the Southwestern United States. While studying nursing and biology at Texas Woman's University, she enrolled in a series of ceramics courses. After graduation, Cherry joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California.  She continued to take ceramics classes, and learned to make bobbin lace. She would continue to expand her lacemaking skills during the following years with teachers from Europe and the United States.

In 1999, Cherry began taking classes at Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC), in central Pennsylvania. She graduated with Honors in 2006.

Cherry and her family live in Chesapeake, Virginia. She works primarily in clay, creating abstract functional and non-functional ware; and woven ceramic and wire lace, based on traditional lace designs.
